Christine Gustafson M.D. practices Integrative Medicine in Alpharetta Georgia at Alpharetta Integrative Medicine. Her transition from traditional into integrative and holistic medicine is based on her own experience more than 5 years ago as a patient with a severe chronic illness. Her experience with conventional medicine was dissapointing. Although everyone is very individual and conventional treatment is most often necessary, in many cases the administration of that treatment, the side effects and the gradual emotional and spiritual deflation that subsequently occur can be prevented and avoided. It is often necessary to address these very things to assure complete healing. The healing process ultimately involved body mind and spirit, something traditional medicine did not seem to readily offer.

Integrative Medicine combines traditional and alternative (also known as Holistic or Complimentary) medical therapies as well as investigating the complex effects of nutrition on disease and health. This is also known as Functional Medicine. The practice offers the patient an alternative to drugs and therapy in the prevention and treatment of disease but is based on in-depth laboratory analysis and sound science.

Therapies consist of a combination of traditional therapies and Botanicals, Chinese Medicine, Arurvedic Medicine, Electro-acupressure, Energy Medicine,Functional Medicine Medical Meditation, Hypnotherapy, Nutritional Analysis, Orthomolecular Medicine and Exercise therapy. The spreading success of healing through botanicals and the mind-body continuum has resulted in Integrative Medicine being one of the most rapidly expanding fields of medicine.
